Huntingford Orchard, Woodland and Wetland Stewardship
General
To implement generative practices that enhance the current orchard into a biodiverse ecosystem. In this site particularly propagating the existing heritage genetics for cultural preservation. And expanding/diversifying the orchard with edible/medicinal perennials and some cultivated rows of annuals.
To implement earthworks in the form of sealing on contours, perhaps digging in a shallow pond to mitigate flooding and provide water security in the dry season. To bring the land into the community by making accessible the food and medicine produced.
Food Sovereignty
Use food produced to create community event/fundraisers and/or value added shelf stable foods with the goal of it going directly to locals via grants funding from local food security initiatives, federal, state and county sources or by selling in local store fronts.
Facilitate Agro-tourism
Utilizing the existing beauty and installing minimal infrastructure
to create a desirable attraction. Developing trail system in the large wooded
acreage creating platforms and flat areas to enjoy views.
